Crossroads Bible Church is a Biblical community where Jesus Christ Transforms lives, renews the City and impacts the World.
Our core Values
1 The Bible as Gospel
Crossroads' vision begins with the Gospel. The Gospel is the good news that through Christ the power of God's kingdom has entered history to renew the whole world. When we believe and rely on Jesus' finished work for our relationship to God, His kingdom power comes upon us and begins to work through us. We preach Christ crucified.
2 Transformed people
The Gospel changes people from the inside out. Christ gives us a radically new identity, freeing us from both self-righteousness and self-condemnation. He breaks the bondage of things (even good things) that once motivated us and liberates us from sin to love God and people.
3 Incarnational Community
The Gospel creates a new community where Jesus Christ is not only the head, but also incarnated through our words, thoughts, and actions. As a community we reflect the love and truth of Jesus to a watching world. As a community we are the hands and feet of Jesus to one another, to our neighbors, and to the least of these throughout Grand Rapids, and to the global places God leads us.
4 Passionate Prayer
Because we are a people seeking a powerful movement of God’s Spirit, we value prayer. Prayer is the expression of utter dependence upon God; it is the wonderful experience by which we enjoy authentic communion with the God of the universe. Prayer has the power to change us. Through prayer the Holy Spirit transforms our heart so we can become like Jesus. For these reasons, we believe that prayer is not just a part of the ministry; it is the ministry.
5 Worship of Jesus Christ
The glory of God revealed in Jesus Christ as Creator and Redeemer demands our all in worship. We are to magnify Jesus through the excellence and creativity of our Sunday Gatherings, and even more importantly, through living in a way that exalts Christ.
6 Our Neighbors
Jesus summed up the entire law with the word "Love" - love towards God and love towards our neighbor. We greatly value the people living within our sphere of influence in such a way that we will do all we can to love them and reach them with the Gospel. We believe God's Spirit through the Gospel moves Christians to humbly serve, live with, and love all the diverse people within our sphere of influence.
7 Genuine Partnerships
We have no illusions that our single church is sufficient to renew even one neighborhood spiritually, socially, and culturally. We are committed to establish strategic partnerships with other churches and to plant (and help others plant) new churches, while at the same time work for a renewal of Gospel vitality in NW Grand Rapids, and all over the world.
8 People serving People
Every follower of Jesus is empowered with the Holy Spirit and spiritual gifts that need to be exercised for the joy of the server and the building up of the church. We want Crossroads to be a place where each gift is identified, strengthened, and unleashed to this end. Therefore we are committed to sacrificially serve one another by using our gifts and resources so that the church can become all God intended it to be.
