Cultivate Marriage Conference

Cultivate Marriage Conference
Friday, February 23 - Saturday, February 24

With so many distractions, pressures, and choices today, we find ourselves going in many directions. It’s more important than ever to invest in your marriage, because marriages and families are only as healthy as their roots. This process takes intentional time and energy. Regardless of what season of life you are in, cultivation is necessary for a flourishing marriage. So, join us and take a step to nourish your marriage.

  • The Roots: Getting rooted in God and His story by gaining purpose and identity to transform and inform our marriages
  • The Trunk: Nourishing the stability of our marriage and families by reflecting on the health of us as individuals and as a couple
  • The Branches: Expanding the reach of our marriage by considering the ways we are called to be on mission and bear fruit

Location: Crossroads Bible Church (800 Scribner Ave NW, GR MI 49504)
Times: Friday, 6:30-9:00pm; Saturday 8:30am-4:00pm
Price: $50 per couple (includes snacks, light breakfast, lunch)

Make it restful: We are asking all couples to set these two days aside as special so you can rest and invest in your relationship. We encourage all couples to consider intentional ways to remove distractions or stress. For some, couples this may look like creating a "staycation" - spending the overnight in your own home and sending your children to family or friends to spend the night. For others, it may be staying at a hotel in downtown GR. Crossroads has reserved 30 rooms at the Hampton Inn on Michigan for couples who want to pay for a discounted hotel stay away. $139+tax price is good until 1/23/2018. You can reserve by calling their front desk (616) 456-2000 or online here.

The Leaders of the Conference:
Rod + Libby VanSolkema
Rod and Libby VanSolkema have a heart for encouraging marriages to grasp the value and importance of their relationship for their families, their communities, and God. As God shaped their own marriage from ashes into beauty, they model a Christian marriage on mission as they raise their three children, serve at Crossroads as Lead Pastor and Children's Director, and lead study tours to Israel. Rod and Libby celebrated their 25th anniversary last year.
Mark + Stephanie TeSlaa
Mark and Stephanie TeSlaa learned first hand that following the world's path for life and marriage will leave you bankrupt and alone. In His compassion and patience, God restored their relationship from a co-existing friendship to an emotionally-connected marriage. For the last several years, they have mentored marriages at various stages and together lead the Marriage Ministry. They have been married for over twenty years and have four teenage children. Stephanie currently serves as the Director of Marriage at Crossroads and is pursing her Counseling degree.
Aaron and Glori Goodrich
Aaron and Glori Goodrich are passionate about marriage and believe that families and societies often reflect the health of marriage. Jesus led in vulnerability and taught us how to be vulnerable with one another. They have been married for over nine years and have three energetic boys. Aaron is a licensed professional counselor who specializes in attachments and marriage and family therapy and together they lead a missional community through SOMA.
Jesse and Jessi Horenburg
Jesse and Jessi Horenburg are passionate worshipers who love the opportunity to lead others to that special place. They've only been married a little over a year, but have experienced some difficult and hard truths that have humbled them, brought them closer as a couple, and allowed them to wrestle with God and their faith. Through that season, they see that vulnerability breeds change, and ultimate healing. While God has a unique path for them to walk out in their marriage, they hope to be an encouragement to other couples.
