The Missions Team at Crossroads has been praying and discerning how best to serve our neighbors as the weather gets colder and the homeless population has been hit particularly hard during this pandemic. Historically, those without homes have relied heavily on libraries and shelters as life saving warming locations, but many are closed or at reduced capacity due to COVID restrictions. Not only is the homeless population in our city growing, warming resources have decreased.
Knowing this urgent need, we have decided to be an emergency warming shelter on days that there is extreme winter weather.
Our plan is to communicate which days we will be open on Friday of each week for the following Monday–Saturday. Please fill out the interest form below if you would like to be contacted about volunteering. By filling out this form, you are not committing to serving every single day we are open! You will be placed on an email list to receive an email each Friday. In that email, we’ll summarize if or when the warming shelter will be open for the next week, with a volunteer sign up for the days we will be open.
