Sarah serves with Youth With A Mission (YWAM) and is passionate about raising up the next generation of missionaries. She works out of the North Cascades YWAM Base in Lynden, Washington. From there she works with to Discipleship Training School students and alumni around the world as the founder of YWAM’s Coaching Initiative—helping students to grow in what they learned and continue building on the foundation established during their DTS.
In 2010, while serving as Missions Director at Crossroads Bible Church, I recognized the challenges young people faced when returning home from completing YWAM’s Discipleship Training School (DTS). Despite their desire to follow Jesus wholeheartedly, many struggled to find direction, connect with community, and commit to a path—which sometimes led to discouragement or even depression and disillusionment. Determined to find a solution, I realized they needed active one-on-one coaching. I became a trained life coach and joined YWAM full-time.
I built a a training and coaching course and tracked the progress my students were making. Through case studies, I demonstrated the effectiveness of coaching being a key element in the DTS program. This led to the creation of a coach-training school to equip YWAM staff to help students identify their God-given calling, take actionable steps, and receive continued support after DTS. This approach has resulted in healthier transitions and greater long-term kingdom impact as students are supported in their mission work and ministry.
Currently, I coach DTS students at the YWAM North Cascades base and train YWAM staff globally in coaching techniques for the DTS program. I also engage in local outreach to the unhoused in Bellingham, WA, and travel internationally to provide pastoral care to students on outreach.
I attended Crossroads Bible Church from 2007-2016, and served as Missions Director in 2010 before transitioning to work in orphan care and church planting in Zambia Africa.
