At Crossroads Bible Church, we view any year-end surplus as a Kingdom Opportunity– a gift to be stewarded, not hoarded. We believe wise stewardship includes building healthy reserves for sustainability and future needs, while also resisting the temptation to stockpile resources out of fear. Our goal is to hold generosity and wisdom together: saving thoughtfully, funding ministry needs and vision, and remaining open-handed with what God has entrusted to us. When surpluses occur, we prayerfully seek ways to strengthen the church and actively bless our city, trusting God to use faithful stewardship to advance His work in and through our community.

Here are the ways surpluses have been used in the last few years:

Fiscal Year 2024-2025:

  • Pay off the building mortgage
  • Funding Center for Pastoral Development (year two seed fund) – Vision is to train and equip pastors to lead with resilience and cultivate healthy churches over a lifetime
  • Fund Discipleship Initiative (two years of funding) – We believe the Church—God’s people—is God’s plan for spreading the gospel to every corner of our city, nation, and world. Our role as staff is not simply to do ministry, but to equip and mobilize others to faithfully live out and share the gospel in their everyday lives.  Because of this, we are committed to intentionally empowering and equipping those who call Crossroads home to be disciples who make disciples where we live, work, and play.
  • Increase emergency fund (increased yearly for budget adjustments)

Fiscal Year 2023-2024:

  • Gathering space improvement – wood walls, prayer room improvements, + worship equipment.
  • Elder approved future considerations account – used to start the Saturday evening gathering + City Service
  • Discipleship Conference for key staff + elders
  • Increase in emergency fund  (increased yearly for budget adjustments)
