History

Crossroads ultimately owes its origins to God and His faithfulness, but God used a partnership of multiple people to make Crossroads a reality—Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, and more specifically, Ed Dobson from Calvary—who assembled the team, shaped the vision, provided the seed funding, and bathed us in prayer. We are grateful.

Here are a few of the notable dates in our history.

  • June of 2004: Crossroads gathered for the first time in the gym of Walker Charter Academy, and for six years, Walker Charter was our home on Sunday mornings.
  • October of 2010: God led us to “stretch” our church by adding a second Sunday location—Northpointe Christian High School—and adding a mid-week meeting space dubbed the  “Upper Room.”
  • April of 2014: God brought us all under one roof at 800 Scribner NW, downtown GR, where our family continues to gather each week.

History, though, is most intimately told through people. And, to tell the real story of God’s work at Crossroads, we’d be burdened with the task of writing tens of thousands of pages detailing God’s goodness, trials, mercies, and transformations. Because, although never perfect, from day one we have been family. Therefore, Crossroads has never been or ever will be defined as a “Me”—Crossroads is a “We.”  Each person has left their mark, being used by God to build the church we are today.

Some of these stories have been shared and can be found in the Life Stories section of our blog.
