Daniel (DanMike) Thompson
Sermon Application Questions
Dan Mike talked about the people wanting Barabbas to be released instead of Jesus. He mentioned that Barabbas, as an insurrectionist, was the kind of Messiah the people wanted as a hero that would save them from the Romans.
What are the heroes in your life and what do you want them to save you from?
When Jesus is our hero, our savior, and our king, he replaces the heroes that you have placed in your lives. Name a hero in your life that Jesus needs to replace.
How will you this week replace this hero with Jesus as your hero?
How will your life look different if you consistently held Jesus as your hero?
After Jesus had been flogged, the Roman soldiers called Jesus "King of the Jews" and mocked him by placing a purple robe on him, giving him a crown of thorns and bowing before him as if praising him as a king.
What is the irony of this narrative?
What does it mean that Jesus demonstrates that he is truly the King by dying on the cross?
As His follower, what does it mean for you to pick up your cross and follow Him? (Mark 8:34-38)
